Gas Insulated Substation
Fireflies & Sky
They roam about and fly
Some climb atop, reaching the bamboo leaves.
Some merge like the river, ocean breeze.
Stargazing the sky,
Twinkling stars here and there
A cat walking by.
For me,
brings the companions of life.
Everything brings peace, and everything feels right.
[OSHO] - Amrit ki Disha [01]
[36:00/50:00]
The reason for religion decline is that the weak have started entering into religion.
Those who cant save themsekves, how can they save religion? How can they protect it?
Walk on the path of religion, only when you have courage.
A person who enters religion due to fear is wrong. All people of religions produce fear of hell, sins etc in people so that people can come to god. But be well known that the love that comes out of fear has a hidden hatred inside. The love is fake, an illusion. God fearing people cannot be religious.
Fear all but god.
Dont believe in god too. A belief closes the door for inquiry.
This doesnt mean no to believe in god as well, as both belief and no belief are the two sides of same coin. In both, the consciousness has stopped. The natural state of consciousness is inquiry.
The consciousness should follow not others light, but find the inner light on their own.
No matter how large the crowd is, all you have is yourself.
---
Truth can not be taken from anybody else. The buddhas, christ, mahavir, krishna have all been enlightened, but their enlightenment will do nothing for you. That which can be given and taken is a part of the world and that which cannot be is a part of Truth. Truth can not be found outside.
There are so many temples but where is God? We make god from our own imagination. Its a proof of ignorance and ego of human that the one human create, we labell them as highest supreme god.
In reality, God is the one who can not be made. God exist before any existence.
It is not a matter of faith/belief, but that of understanding. Blind can have faith in light, but never experience it. If by merely knowing god would be enough, then everybody would be enlightened.
True religion does not oppose intelligence. It is through intelligence that you experience religion. But history has it that those with blind faith have discarded intelligence and chose religion. Intellectual went to science and science has been developing since then. Intelligence should be a part of religion, then only it can be the highest science.
Not surrender but inquiry of the self is needed. No taking from someone else, not one must relate to themselves.
All lazy, and tamasik people have surrendered to religion owing to lack of courage inside them.
One must therefore, learn how to awaken intelligence within himself. There are few rules to it:
1. All people are born into religion, unfortunately. People are taught religion. But religion does not have an exam to prepare for, hence being taught religion is absurd. People project that if people are not taught religion, people will go ashtray. But looking at history, so many sadhus, saints, preachers have been spreading religion, yet has the world been more loveable than before?
---
if people accept there is god bydefault, then they will loose their curiosity, the inquiry. we are taught where lies soul, without ever seeking by ourself. all we know is learned.
For intelligence to awaken, renounce all the external learnings. throw it away like a garbage. its not that tradition is bad, it is that religion is so big that no tradition can contain it. self and free inquiry is needed. for it, courage is needed. great courage is needed to leave all the tradition and habits. they can not contain truth. whatever is taught in the name of god/religion, one should leave it.
its like, a group of people rowing away a boat that is tied to the shore in a dark night. they will row their whole night, but see that in the morning, nothing has been moving. smae way, to reach the truth, once should leave themselves. society will find it difficult, if u are not bonded. the societys management is based on ur bondage. for its administration, it sacrifices ur intelligence. so that no revolution can happen against it. society eants human to behave like a machine, whatever it wants, human does it. it doesnt care about truth. but at one point, truth is human being needed. and hence one has to renounce. it doesnt mean revolt, it means u will not limit/bonded with the concepts. accept the ignorance and so on. now u will go into inquiry. the experience will be ur own light.
but it doesnt mean he is flying, now he is ready to fly it means. consciousness now becomes light so as to take a flight now.
next is antar dristi: self awareness.
2. whatever is seen, dont take it as it is. like budhhda was born, it wa predicted, that he will be great chakravarti or a great sanyasin. to prevent that he was suggested not to give him chances to generate self awareness. for it never present to him, withering people, old people, if they acan be old, he will be old too. withering leaves, yellow flowers, dead people. his father made great measure not to see these things. despite great measure, buddha saw them. but we have seen it all, yet we havent become a sanyasin. no self inner awareness lies in them. he saw old people, he questioned, will he become old like them? the chariot leader said, he will be.
[OSHO] Dhammapada Vol 05- Positive vs Negative thinking
[[This is taken from Dhammapada Volume 5, by OSHO]]
Positive and Negative thinking are both on a same plane. They are divided by tattered plane.
But why is positive considered better than negative?
Mind is rooted in the language of "No". It is negative.
Heart is rooted in the language of "Yes". It is positive.
The more you say "no", the more society perceives you as a great thinker. The minds nourishment comes from saying "no". There is nothing like a positive mind.
The heart says "Yes".
It is better to say "Yes" than "No". Because, one cannot live by saying "No". The more you say "No", the more shrunken you become. The less alive you become. Even if society thinks you are great, you are shrinking, dying, committing a slow suicide. Say no to beauty, to love, you will be less than you were before. Chunk by chunk, you will disappear. And what is left of it? A very empty life, which is meaningless, without any significance, no dance, no celebration and no joy.
An example of this is the modern man. He has said so many "No" than ever before. We go on asking meaning of life. We have said "No" to god. Life has become impossible to us, but we go on living because we are afraid of death, we are cowards. We live out of fear, not out of love.
If one has to choose to be one, it is better to be positive. The more you are positive, the more you are closer to heart. Heart does not know the language of negative. It does not asks, but it simply enjoys, In enjoying, it knows what is it.
Mind know questions and the heart knows the answer. Philosophy keeps on questioning. From one question, emerge thousands of other questions. But mind wont listen to heart, because there is no communion between the two. Heart knows the language of silence which the mind does not understand. Since the heart does not ask, the mind thinks it is blind.
But they are two sides of the same phenomenon. Positive is joined with negative. The goal is to go beyond both duality, go beyond both "yes" and "no". "Yes" can have meaning only in the context of "No". They are polar opposites but they help each other in a subtle way.
Spiritual masters do not teach the way of positive or negative. They use the language of the heart, just to take you to the other shore. Heart is the boat, which has to be left behind once you have reached the other shore. They teach the way of transcendence. Yin and yang, day and night has to be dropped.
When you move away from both, then you will have glimpse of the ultimate. Ultimate remains inexpressible, you can not say yes or no.
Gautama, the Buddha, never said no to god, never said yes to god. He was neither atheist nor theist. When people came to him with questions, he was silent. He was really answering, because god means something which is transcendental. Rarely people understood him.
Ultimate can not be talked about.
But if you have to choose between positive or negative, choose the positive because it is easier to slip out of yes than slip out of no. "No" does not have much space in it. "Yes" is wider. To move away from "No" is very difficult.
From No", come to "Yes", then from "Yes", go to the beyond. Beyond is neither positive nor negative. Beyond is god, beyond is enlightenment.
[OSHO] - Drisya, Darsak & Drasta
You are drasta of everything and you are mukt. We see ourselves from others eye. And we forget drasta and become drisya. If we look at darpan of others we forget ourselves. Darpan is mirror of others. Someone else says we are beautiful, some say we are ugly and some say we are smart, some say we are dull. Both has come inside and meets inside, and we are split. We have collected a crowd. We have looked at various mirror. They don’t tell about ourselves they say about themselves. Like circus house mirrors, some shows us tall, some shows us short. Opposites collect inside together, and we think we are this meeting. And hence we are in vhaya, and fear, and we worry what if people say I am fool, and tall or short and stuff.
Gurdijeff says, to know the atman, you have to leave the crowd. In society, it’s difficult to know about us because people give glances of who we are. And we live for these glances. One story, one politician dies and 2 years before his wife had already died, and when wife waits for him, he says to wait. He wanted to know who mourned for him. He was carried in military truck, that arthi dhul was there. Many people were present in his death. He was happy. Wife asked why is he happy, he says that had he known all these people would be present, he would die early. People die for crowd. They live for crowd. We don’t ask who I am because we are interested in others opinion. What others say, we collect them all. And people Mann and reason changes and hence the collected items change a lot. We are hence split. In this conflicting opinion we form ourselves. We form the atman. We only drag, we don’t reach anywhere.
So 1st sutra: we are drasta. There are 3 types of people, who become drisya, another who become darsak (better than the first but not much), 3rd who become drasta.
1. Drisya: When we become drisya, we become objects. There is no atman there, we don’t see atman in politician, actors because they live to become drisya. Their whole life revolves around showing them off to the people to look good in front others. They wear a mask, they are hypocrite. Inside they become rotten.
2. Another is darsak that means crowd. For drisya, darsak is needed. Both need each other’s. For politicians, u need people around. For dancer, u need an audience. That audience is darsak. People have become darsak, people watch television and radio. 6hrs a day they watch television, football match, kusti, cricket, Olympics. Only audience is there in the world in maximum. With huge sacrifice, you can become drisya, so it’s easy to be a darsak. Without darsak, drisya looks foolish. Imagine a politician waving a flag alone without any spectator, a cricket match happening in stadium without any audience. The heart of cricket lies in the audience. You don’t dance, you watch others dance. You don’t sing, you hear others sing. All urja has gone out from the darsak. Like a murda. Someone shows and you keep on looking. Both need each other. A wife who is masochist and a husband who is a sadist are made for each other. Each disease has 2 face. Drisya and darsak are that two face. Females like to be an exhibitionist a drisya and male a spectator, a darsak.
3. People make mistake saying darsak is drasta. That is a mistake. Darsak means dristi is on others, drasta is dristi on ourselves. Huge difference, a revolutionary difference. In watching ourselves only awareness lies. In darsak, u forget ourselves completely. In cinema we forget ourselves, that’s why there is a crowd there. People want to forget themselves their misery because there u forget your troubles. Illness, death, troubles are forgotten while being a darsak. No remembrance is there in darsak. That urja is forgotten. In drasta, all curtains are left, no thoughts hence all is clear. Few people are drasta, like Buddha, Mahavira. Drisya and darsak are many, drasta is one. Imagine a moon is there in the sky, the reflection is there in lakes, ocean, water, rivers, and ponds. So many reflections, but moon is one. Same way, darsak is a reflection, real is the drasta. In drasta there is no icchya to be a drisya and a darsak. No wish to be validated by others. No wish that others would say that you are beautiful or handsome or smart. Drasta sees that there is one moon, although reflection are many. Darsak is many. Spiritual man takes the leap and jumps directly to the moon.
We have become habituated with the thorn so much that we are suspicious when a flower blooms. Our bandhan is to forget ourselves and see others while being a darsak. One mukti is to see ourselves as drasta. See ourselves. See who is looking at the drasta too. See the seer. Don’t forget who is seeing, you will forget because its habit, but remember, see who sees. Always remember the seer, then when you see, something arises. A mukti ka Ananda, even in one moment. If you read or listen while forgetting yourselves, you are darsak. So remember yourself while reading this, then you are drasta. If dhyan goes to the object then you are darsak, but while reading, catch the one who is looking. Catch and remember who is looking. See the seer. Suune walo ko pakdo, else u will read what is not even written. In behosi, how will u know? If u hear in sleep, how u will know clearly, Mann makes it cloudy. See the seer, then clarity arises and u can see what is written. See the living asthakavakra. While listening or reading, listen to the one who is listening too. If u forget object it’s not a problem, but don’t forget the seer, the listener. A moment will come when you will speak and u are seeing the speaker. U are listening and then are the speaker both.
[OSHO] - Spine Meditation
This is the another technique from the book “The book of secrets”, where you are to be aware of the spine.
A straight spine is needed and imagine a lotus thread, delicate or a silver thread running across the spine. See the middle point. Be aware of the middle point.
Whatever you do, be aware of it.
I would like to blend it with the other techniques:
In 3 step awareness, OSHO has given 3 step process:
1. To be watchful of your body from inside,
2. Watch your thoughts(as if you were writing whatever the mind would say)
3. Be aware of feelings.
This technique is good for centering the body. Be aware of your spine and concentration is established. Then you move onto awareness of the mind, where thoughts are watched. Finally for emotions…. well there is another technique which is useful for watching mood which will be dealt with after 3 days.
Use the previous breathing-gap meditation to be aware of your mind, of course it may be different for you, you may be aware of your body while watching breath-gap
Suppression Vs Understanding
If we suppress anything, we feel it is getting away. If we understand something, it also feels it is going away. Now you no longer are burdened by it.
If your body is hungry, you will say, “I am hungry”. If you are aware, you see that your body feels hunger. Now a distance is created. The hunger is still there, if your body is really hungry. But you are separated from it. Suppression means you are not looking at it directly but distracting yourself away from reality. Entertainment is misused as a form of suppression. In awareness it looks as if the thoughts are dying but it is not so. The thoughts are moving, but in awareness, the identification with the thought is no longer given energy. Thought is separated, the bridge has been collapsed. The identification is no longer given energy. Now you are free. now being in this gap, will u know what to do. Whether to really eat or not. this is how u will control your life rather being controlled.
Thoughts are like heavy stone that you hold while living. Be aware and that itself destroys the identification. Now you are free to move.
[OSHO] - Book of secrets
This is one of the first meditation out of 112 meditations proposed in this book. The feature of the meditation techniques listed in the book is that it covers every type of mind tendency. The first 9 techniques are related to breathing.
The first technique:
When the breath comes in, feel the nostril. The breath completes inside and when its about to leave the nose, again observe it or feel it.
Before the breath enters observe the nostrils and before the incoming breath becomes the outgoing breath, observe the nostrils. There is a gap between incoming and outgoing where the breath stops for a second.
Your task is to develop the knack for meditation. Be keen on finding the gap between incoming and outgoing breath at the start of entrance(nostril). Don’t systematize your breathing cycle. If you tend to control the breathing pattern, first focus on finding the gap and slowly the pattern will become regular as you continue to practice.
This is a form of being alert to yourself. Slowly convert it in to awareness, be observant of the gap while you are doing any task.
The mind chatter may continue on the background. Don’t get identified with it. See your identification to get unidentified, all the while maintaining the breathing-gap observation. If it is something very difficult to control(the chattering), write your thoughts and understand them. Don’t repress, else it will explode like a volcano. Seek to understand your mind as you do meditation.
Tantra is all about indulgence but with awareness.
Yoga is about suppression with awareness.
We live either in suppression mode(bottling up of emotions) or in indulgence mode(addiction) without being aware. Seek the awareness in whatever you do. Start with alertness to your breathing-gap.
Do this for 3 days. I will be doing this for 3 days as well and if this technique fits you, if you are more relaxed and light when you do this meditation then skip the rest of the meditation and follow this meditation technique for 3 months. I will be trying out every meditation because there can be more than one meditation technique for me. As you master one technique, the rest of the techniques can be easy to follow too. Use both wings that you have to fly.
[OSHO] - Dhammapada Vol 01- Chapter 01
Chapter 1
“We are what we think.
All that we are arises with out thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with an impure mind,
and trouble will follow you.
As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart,
We are what we think.
With out thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with a pure mind,
And happiness will follow you.
As your shadow, unshakable.
‘look how he abused me and beat me.’
Live with such thoughts and you live in hate.
‘Look how he abused me and beat me,
How he threw me down and robbed me.’
Abandon such thoughts and live in love.
In this world,
Hate never yet dispelled hate.
Only love dispels hate.
This is the law,
Ancient and inexhaustible.
You too shall pass away.
Knowing this, how can you quarrel?
How easily the wind overturns a frail tree.
Seek happiness in the senses,
Indulge in food and sleep,
And you too will be uprooted.
The wind cannot overturn a mountain,
Temptation cannot touch the man.
Who is awake, strong and humble,
Who masters himself and minds the law.
If a man’s thoughts are muddy,
If he is reckless and full of deceit,
How can he wear the yellow robe?
Whoever is master if his own nature,
Bright, clear and true,
He may indeed wear the yellow robe.”
The words of buddha can only reach you receive them in silence. Be meditative while you are reading this text. Then you no longer need to memorize, then these words of truth will sink deep in you, it will be a part of you. these words will manifest in your reality. You will be a living teaching of buddha. Words are inadequate, silence communes totally. Truth has its own way of convincing people, it needs no other proofs.
There is an undercurrent that runs everything smoothly. Be in tuned with it and you no longer need to be divided and unknown about what and why things are happening to you. Only in awareness you can say that whatsoever happens, always happens rightly. Without awareness your words will be empty, they will have no substance. If you can look at the whole, all the whys disappear. We become attached to the fragments of truth without knowing the full picture. Be in tuned with the existence and all shall be known to you. Without relating to the universe, your life has no foundation, no meaning. If you are not bridged with the total, you cannot have any significance of your own. You will remain a driftwood, at the mercy of winds and not knowing where you are going. Mind means not knowing where you are going and still pretending to know the goal. Senses cannot give you foundation, because they are always changing. One moment, eyes say that this looks beautiful, next moment another thing looks more beautiful. Don’t depend on senses, depend on awareness.
Be a disciple, which means to have the capacity to learn, capacity to drop old prejudices. When mind is set aside, something remains. It is no-thing. not nothing, but no-thing. Impure mind means mind, pure mind means no-mind. How to achieve no mind? Mind is darkness. Darkness is removed only by bringing in light. Bring the light in. Become silence, conscious, alert, aware and awake of yourself.
That is what meditation is, to be external to your internals. Watch you body, internally what is happening to you, see all the thoughts arising. Be inclusive, don’t exclude, don’t concentrate. In the name of mindfulness all we get is to concentrate. Concentration is not awareness. All our energies are going outwards, bring the attention to your own self and then include whatever comes to you. Only then attention becomes awareness. When you watch the body, be aware of the mind. Mind means thoughts. at first it will not be easy because we are habituated to distractions. Slowly you will have the knack to deal with the distractions.
Call of the Bamboos
The bamboos called.
So I went.
All the souls,
Passing through the leaves,
Making a sound,
No greater than wind chimes.
Searching for god
Where are you?
Like yesterday,
Today I am blindfolded too.
Ups and Downs
Whether in cells or in meadows,
You take me there
I am happy to follow.
